There was a time when a person who wanted to find work had to buy newspaper and look through the classified ads section for jobs vacancies. The internet now enables us to look for jobs not only in our local area but also the whole of the wilder world.

The world has become a much smaller place and now everyone with access to a computer can search for jobs and apply for them.

There are so many sites that list regional, national and international jobs vacancies in an easy to use way. If you want o get emails and have your CV posted to prospective employers all you need to do is sign up with the website and fill in your details.

Never give your financial details to these sites but you will probably be asked for your name, location and vocational details.

Sometimes you might be asked for your education history, especially if employers use the website to find potential new staff members. For an employer to judge whether you might be suitable for a position they will also ask you for some of your job history, skills and experiences. A section in the account will also ask the preferred industry of work, if the person is willing to do field work or open to relocation and the expected salary should one be accepted for the job.

When you have provided all the necessary information the site will then sift through all the listed jobs to find you some that match your details. You might get these sent to your email or listed on your profile page and it should be free for this service.

Sometimes you might be able to pay a fee that will help your CV to be found before other applicant but this is no way a guarantee of a job or even an interview.

Even if you are looking for casual work or part-time jobs, you can still use the internet. Any type of job that an employer posts online will be findable by job hunters.

There are more resources on the internet than direct job websites however. If you know of companies that you would like to work for, check out their online careers section. If you find a job that you want and have the experience for, send your CV to the HR department and they will get back to you.
