Are you tired of working hard without your hard efforts being appreciated or financially merited? Do you dream of owning your own business but don?t know where to begin. Or maybe your not prepared to risk your hard earned savings in a business you have no idea whether it will succeed or not. Have you ever heard of or considered investing in a franchise business? It could be solution which lets you be your own boss by distributing the products or selling the services of another company. You will be the manager of the business under the guidance of the franchise company.

When a parent company decides to expand their business geographically by franchising their business, it is not the same as how a business would traditionally expand. The franchise business does not provide the money to get the new outlet of the business up and running. This is what the franchisee is buying into, they pay the franchisor a fee and when the business is up and running the franchisor continues to take a percentage of the profits from the franchisee (usually in the region of 10%), with both parties taking a share of the business?s success.

When compared to starting up you own business from a clean slate there many advantages to be had. Compared to new businesses which with the failure rate is a lot higher, with a franchise the risk is reduced. The reasons for this are firstly you are buying into a business with a proven track record. Also the franchise will provide you assistance to get you up and running, sometimes providing a franchise consultant. Also not many businesses make a profit in their early stages, but with a franchise this is different.

Of course, there are some disadvantages to buying a franchise business, as well. You must comply with the rules of the company, sometimes to the extreme. If you buy a lesser known, inexpensive franchise, there’s no real guarantee it will succeed. Even with a well known franchise, there is no guarantee of success. You have to pay the franchisor (the company you bought the business from) a fee each month and these fees never stop. Some franchises only help you in the very beginning, and then you are on your own. Knowing what you know now, if you had your own company, wouldn’t you choose to franchise your business?

Regardless of the business, you should never invest in a business without doing some thorough investigation first. Be certain to use all the resources you have available to you and try to find out how other franchisors within the franchise have faired before you part with you part with your investment.

First and foremost, you must weigh up the pros and cons of buying a franchise business. If the pros outweigh the cons, then you need to add in the costs. If it’s still worth it, you can move on to learning local and federal franchise laws. Do your research. You should not only research the various companies you can invest in, you should research their backgrounds and try to find out as much information as you possibly can about them. Seek professional advice and then plot out your business plan. Finally, if everything works out like you want it to, then you can finance your franchise.

Consider that a major factor in the success of your franchise could be the location of the business. Do a bit of market research on this subject and if the business?s target market is the immediate locality then be sure that you chose the correct area.

Now you have a basic understanding of the becoming a franchisee, go and do your investigations and maybe it will turn into an attractive way of starting a business. Tread carefully and good luck.

What can a student looking for Microsoft certified training expect to find today? Patently, training companies ought to have a number of courses that cover the portfolio of Microsoft certified training paths.

What can a student looking for Microsoft certified training expect to find today? Patently, training companies ought to have a number of courses that cover the portfolio of Microsoft certified training paths.

You’ll want to consider all the options with a person who knows about the IT industry, and has the ability to guide you towards the most fruitful career to suit your abilities and character.

When you’ve chosen the area you want to get into, you must find a suitable training program customised to be right for your current level of knowledge and ability. Your study program should leave no room for complaints.

Only consider training paths that move onto industry accepted certifications. There’s an endless list of trainers suggesting ‘in-house’ certificates that are essentially useless when it comes to finding a job.

All the major IT organisations such as Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe or CompTIA have globally recognised proficiency courses. Major-league companies like these will ensure your employability.

Sometimes, folks don’t comprehend what IT means. It is electrifying, revolutionary, and puts you at the fore-front of developments in technology affecting everyones lives in the 21st century.

We’re at the dawn of starting to get a handle on what this change will mean to us. The way we correlate with the world as a whole will be massively affected by computers and the internet.

And keep in mind that on average, the income of a person in the IT industry in Great Britain is a lot better than in the rest of the economy, therefore you’ll most likely gain a lot more as an IT specialist, than you’d expect to earn elsewhere.

The requirement for appropriately qualified IT professionals is certain for quite some time to come, due to the ongoing expansion in the technology industry and the vast shortage still present.

It’s quite a normal occurrence for students not to check on something that can make a profound difference to their results – how their training provider actually breaks down and delivers the courseware elements, and into how many separate packages.

Normally, you’ll enrol on a course staged over 2 or 3 years and get posted one section at a time – from one exam to the next. This may seem sensible until you think about these factors:

What could you expect if you didn’t actually complete every module at the speed they required? Often the prescribed exam order doesn’t work as well as an alternative path could be.

Truth be told, the very best answer is to obtain their recommendation on the best possible order of study, but make sure you have all of your learning modules right from the beginning. You’re then in possession of everything should you not complete it within their ideal time-table.

A successful training package should have accredited simulation materials and exam preparation packages.

Ensure that the exams you practice are not only asking questions on the correct subjects, but also asking them in the way that the actual final exam will structure them. This really messes up students if the questions are phrased in unfamiliar formats.

You should make sure you check whether you’re learning enough through tests and practice exams prior to taking the proper exam.

Because you're doing your research on MCSE courses, you'll probably be in 1 of 2 situations: You might be wondering about a dynamic move to get into the IT field, and all evidence points to a huge demand for qualified people.
Because you’re doing your research on MCSE courses, you’ll probably be in 1 of 2 situations: You might be wondering about a dynamic move to get into the IT field, and all evidence points to a huge demand for qualified people. Alternatively you could already be in IT – and you want to enhance your CV with a qualification such as MCSE.

As you find out about training providers, make sure you steer clear of those that short-change you by not providing the latest Microsoft version. This is a false economy for the trainee due to the fact that they’ll have learned outdated MCSE course material which doesn’t fall in with the existing exam programme, so they’ll probably fail.

Avoid businesses who are just trying to sell you something. You deserve time, expertise and advice to make sure you are registering on the correct course. Resist being forced into a standard product by an inadequate outfit.

Of all the important things to consider, one of the most essential is always full 24×7 support from expert mentors and instructors. So many companies we come across only provide office hours (or extended office hours) support.

some companies only provide email support (slow), and so-called telephone support is normally just routed to a call-centre which will take the information and email an instructor – who will attempt to call you within 24-48 hrs, when it suits them. This is all next to useless if you’re sitting there confused over an issue and only have a specific time you can study.

The very best training providers have many support offices active in different time-zones. By utilising an interactive interface to seamlessly link them all, no matter what time you login, help is at hand, with no hassle or contact issues.

Never make do with less than this. Direct-access round-the-clock support is the only way to go when it comes to IT training. Maybe burning the midnight-oil is not your thing; often though, we’re working at the time when most support is available.

Finding your first job in the industry can feel more straightforward with a Job Placement Assistance program. Don’t get overly impressed with this service – it isn’t unusual for eager sales people to overplay it. Ultimately, the still growing need for IT personnel in Britain is why employers will be interested in you.

Update your CV at the beginning of your training though (advice and support for this should come from your course provider). Don’t put it off until you’ve qualified.

You’ll often find that you will get your first position whilst still on the course (sometimes when you’ve only just got going). If your CV doesn’t say what you’re learning – or it’s not getting in front of interviewers, then you’re not even going to be known about!

If you’d like to keep travelling time and costs to a minimum, then you’ll probably find that a local IT focused recruitment consultancy could be more appropriate than a centralised service, due to the fact that they’re going to be familiar with what’s available near you.

A common grievance of many course providers is how much trainees are focused on studying to get qualified, but how un-prepared that student is to get the role they have acquired skills for. Don’t give up when the best is yet to come.

Those that are drawn to this type of work are usually quite practically-minded, and won’t enjoy sitting at a desk in class, and struggling through thick study-volumes. If this is putting you off studying, try the newer style of interactive study, where you can learn everything on-screen.

We see a huge improvement in memory retention when we use multiple senses – this has been an accepted fact in expert circles for many years.

The latest home-based training features self-contained CD or DVD materials. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you’ll learn your subject through the expert demonstrations. You can then test yourself by practicing and interacting with the software.

Always insist on a demonstration of the study materials from the school that you’re considering. The materials should incorporate demo’s from instructors, slideshows and fully interactive skills-lab’s.

Opt for CD and DVD ROM based physical training media whenever you can. You’re then protected from the variability of broadband quality and service.

The best type of training package should have Microsoft (or key company) exam preparation systems.

Don’t go for training programs depending on unofficial exam preparation systems. The way they’re phrased is sometimes startlingly different – and sometimes this can be a real headache once in the actual exam.

As you can imagine, it is really important to be confident that you’re absolutely ready for your commercial exam prior to doing it. Rehearsing simulated exams adds to your knowledge bank and saves you time and money on wasted exam attempts.

Four specialist training areas feature in the complete CompTIA A+ course, of which you'll need certification in two subjects to be considered A+ qualified.

by Jason Kendall

Four specialist training areas feature in the complete CompTIA A+ course, of which you’ll need certification in two subjects to be considered A+ qualified. We would advise however that only studying two of the four specialities might well not equip you for a job. At least learn about all four – employers will notice the difference.

Qualifying in CompTIA A+ on its own will allow you to fix and repair stand-alone PC’s and MAC’s; ones which are usually not part of a network – which is for the most part the home market.

Should you decide to add Network+ training, you’ll additionally be equipped to assist with or manage networks of computers, giving you the facility to apply for more senior positions.

You’ll come across courses which guarantee examination passes – this always means you have to pay for the exams at the very beginning of your studies. However, prior to embracing this so-called guarantee, consider this:

These days, we tend to be a little more ‘marketing-savvy’ – and usually we cotton on to the fact that it is actually an additional cost to us (it’s not a freebie because they like us so much!)

Trainees who take exams one at a time, funding them as they go are much more likely to pass. They are mindful of what they’ve paid and so are more inclined to make sure they’re ready.

Doesn’t it make more sense to find the best exam deal or offer at the time, rather than coughing up months or even a year or two in advance to a training college, and to do it locally – instead of the remote centre that’s convenient only to the trainer?

A great deal of money is netted by a significant number of organisations that get money upfront for exam fees. For quite legitimate reasons, a number of students don’t get to do their exams and so they pocket the rest. Surprising as it sounds, providers exist that actually bank on it – as that’s how they make a lot of their profit.

Most companies will require you to sit pre-tests and with-hold subsequent exam entries from you until you’ve demonstrated an excellent ability to pass – which actually leaves you with no guarantee at all.

Exam fees averaged 112 pounds or thereabouts last year through local VUE or Pro-metric centres throughout the country. Therefore, why splash out often many hundreds of pounds extra to have ‘an Exam Guarantee’, when it’s no secret that the best guarantee is a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools.

Lately, do you find yourself questioning the security of your job? For most people, this isn’t an issue until we get some bad news. But in today’s marketplace, The cold truth is that true job security has gone the way of the dodo, for nearly everyone now.

We can however locate security at market-level, by probing for areas in high demand, together with work-skill shortages.

Looking at the Information Technology (IT) sector, the most recent e-Skills study demonstrated a twenty six percent shortfall of skilled workers. Showing that for every four jobs that are available throughout IT, there are barely three qualified workers to fulfil that role.

This glaring notion underpins the requirement for more commercially qualified IT professionals around Great Britain.

It’s unlikely if a better time or market settings will exist for acquiring training in this quickly increasing and blossoming market.

Qualifications from the commercial sector are now, most definitely, beginning to replace the traditional routes into the industry – but why is this?

The IT sector now recognises that to cover the necessary commercial skill-sets, official accreditation supplied for example by Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe is far more effective and specialised – at a far reduced cost both money and time wise.

Patently, a necessary amount of background information needs to be learned, but essential specialised knowledge in the areas needed gives a commercially educated student a massive advantage.

Just as the old advertisement said: ‘It does what it says on the tin’. All an employer has to do is know what areas need to be serviced, and then request applicants with the correct exam numbers. They’ll know then that all applicants can do what they need.

Of course: a training itself or a qualification isn’t the end-goal; the particular job that you want to end up in is. Too many training companies place too much importance on the qualification itself.

Imagine training for just one year and then end up doing a job for a lifetime. Don’t make the error of taking what may be a very ‘interesting’ program only to waste your life away with something you don’t even enjoy!

Take time to understand how you feel about career progression and earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. It makes sense to understand what industry expects from you, what particular accreditations they want you to have and how you’ll gain real-world experience.

You’d also need help from someone that can best explain the sector you’re hoping to qualify in, and who can offer ‘A typical day in the life of’ type of explanation of the job being considered. These things are of paramount importance as you’ll need to know whether or not you’ve chosen correctly.

Should you be ready to gain accredited qualifications at the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator study level, some of the best training tools on the market today are for computer based training that works interactively. So if you have a certain amount of knowledge but are hoping to gain accredited qualifications, or you’re a beginner, you will find interactive MCSA training tracks to suit your needs.

If you want to get into the world of IT for the 1st time, you’re very likely to need to improve your skill-set before having a go at all four Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exams needed to pass the MCSA. Look for a company that’s willing to create a bespoke package to suit your needs – ask to chat with an advisor to analyse your optimum route.

Often, trainers provide a big box of books. This can be very boring and not ideal for taking things in.

Years of research and study has constantly verified that connecting physically with our study, will more likely produce memories that are deeper and longer-lasting.

The latest home-based training features easy-to-use DVD or CD ROM’s. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you’ll take everything in via their teaching and demonstrations. Knowledge can then be tested by practicing and interacting with the software.

You really need to look at examples of the study materials provided by any company that you may want to train through. Be sure that they contain video demo’s and interactive elements such as practice lab’s.

Opt for physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s where possible. Thus avoiding all the issues associated with broadband ‘downtime’ or slow-speeds.

A typical blunder that students everywhere can make is to choose a career based on a course, and not focus on the end result they want to achieve. Universities are stacked to the hilt with unaware students who took a course because it seemed fun – rather than what would get them the job they want.

It’s not unheard of, in some situations, to thoroughly enjoy one year of training and then find yourself trapped for decades in a tiresome job role, as an upshot of not doing the correct research at the beginning.

Spend some time thinking about what you want to earn and what level of ambition fits you. Usually, this will point the way to which qualifications you will need and what you can expect to give industry in return.

The best advice for students is to speak to a skilled advisor before they make a decision on a particular study program. This is essential to ensure it features what is required for the chosen career.

Adding in the cost of exam fees as an inclusive element of the package price and presenting it as a guarantee for your exams is a popular marketing tool with a good many training companies. Consider the facts:

You’re paying for it by some means. You can be assured it’s not a freebie – it’s simply been shoe-horned into the price as a whole.

For those who want to qualify first ‘go’, you must fund each exam as you take it, give it the priority it deserves and be ready for the task.

Find the best exam deal or offer available at the appropriate time, and hang on to your cash. You also get more choice of where you sit the exam – so you can choose somewhere closer to home.

Why tie up your cash (or borrow more than you need) for exam fees when you didn’t need to? Huge profits are made because training colleges are getting paid upfront for exams – and then hoping that you won’t take them all.

Remember, with most ‘Exam Guarantees’ – they control when and how often you can do your re-takes. They’ll only allow a re-take once completely satisfied.

Exams taken at local centres are in the region of 112 pounds in the UK. Students should be very wary of forking out hundreds of pounds extra in fees for ‘exam guarantees’ (often covertly rolled into the cost of the course) – when the best course materials, the right level of support and study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.

When was the last time you considered how safe your job is? Typically, we only think of this after something dramatic happens to shake us. But really, the lesson often learned too late is that true job security simply doesn’t exist anymore, for nearly everyone now.

Now, we only experience security through a rapidly rising market, pushed forward by a lack of trained workers. These circumstances create the correct setting for market-security – definitely a more pleasing situation.

Investigating the computing market, the 2006 e-Skills investigation brought to light a more than 26 percent shortfall of skilled workers. Alternatively, you could say, this highlights that the UK only has three qualified staff for each four job positions available at the moment.

Attaining proper commercial computing qualification is as a result an effective route to achieve a life-long and gratifying line of work.

No better time or market state of affairs is ever likely to exist for gaining qualification for this hugely increasing and budding sector.

These days, many workplaces would be severely hampered were it not for support workers fixing networks and computers, while making recommendations to users on a constant basis. Our country’s need for increasing numbers of commercially qualified individuals multiplies, as we become significantly more beholden to PC’s in these modern times.

Can job security honestly exist anymore? Here in the UK, with industry changing its mind on a whim, there doesn’t seem much chance.

Whereas a fast growing sector, with huge staffing demands (through an enormous shortage of commercially certified workers), enables the possibility of true job security.

Taking a look at the Information Technology (IT) sector, the most recent e-Skills survey showed a 26 percent shortfall of skilled workers. Therefore, for each four job positions existing across Information Technology (IT), businesses can only find enough qualified individuals for 3 of them.

This glaring notion reveals the requirement for more appropriately qualified computing professionals in the United Kingdom.

As the Information Technology market is developing at such a speed, is there any other sector worth looking at for a new career.

One crafty way that training providers make a big mark-up is through up-front charges for exams and presenting it as a guarantee for your exams. It looks impressive, but is it really:

You’re paying for it one way or another. It’s definitely not free – they’ve just worked it into the package price.

Should you seriously need to qualify first ‘go’, then the most successful route is to fund each exam as you take it, focus on it intently and give the task sufficient application.

Don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you at the time, and avoid college mark-up fees. You’ll also be able to choose where to sit the exam – so you can choose somewhere closer to home.

Why tie up your cash (or borrow more than you need) for examination fees when there’s absolutely nothing that says you have to? A great deal of money is made because training colleges are getting paid upfront for exams – and then hoping that you won’t take them all.

You should fully understand that re-takes through organisations who offer an ‘Exam Guarantee’ inevitably are heavily regulated. You will be required to do mock exams to make sure they think you’re going to pass.

Prometric and VUE exams are around 112 pounds in this country. Why spend so much more on charges for ‘Exam Guarantees’ (usually wrapped up in the course package price) – when the best course materials, the right level of support and a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Be careful that the certifications you’re studying for are commercially relevant and are current. The ‘in-house’ certifications provided by many companies are generally useless.

To an employer, only the major heavyweights such as Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA or Cisco (for instance) will get you short-listed. Anything less won’t make the grade.

The right sort of package of training will also include Microsoft (or key company) exam preparation systems.

As many IT examination boards are American, you must be prepared for the way exams are phrased. It’s not sufficient merely going through the right questions – they have to be in the same format as the actual exams.

A way to build self-confidence is if you test how much you know through tests and practice exams to get you ready for the real thing.

The CompTIA A+ training program covers four areas of training; you’re considered competent at A+ when you’ve achieved certifications for half of them. For this reason, it’s usual for colleges to only teach 2 specialised areas. In reality it’s necessary to have the teaching in all areas as many jobs will ask for knowledge and skills of the entire course. It isn’t necessary to complete all 4 certifications, but we would recommend you take tutorials in all 4 subjects.

CompTIA A+ without additional courses will allow you to fix and maintain stand alone Macs, computers and laptops; ones that are generally not connected to a network – essentially the domestic or small business sector.

You might also choose to think about supplementing the A+ with Network + as it will enable you to take care of computer networks, and have a more responsible working role.

Being a part of the leading edge of new technology gives you the best job satisfaction ever. Your actions are instrumental in defining the world to come.

We’re only just starting to comprehend how all this will mould and change our lives. How we correlate with the world as a whole will be massively affected by computers and the web.

Should lifestyle be around the top on your scale of wants, you will welcome the news that the usual remuneration for IT employees in general is considerably more than with other market sectors.

There is a great nationwide need for certified IT specialists. Also, as growth in the industry shows little sign of contracting, it seems this pattern will continue for years to come.

It’s usual for students to get confused with a single training area usually not even thought about: The breakdown of the course materials before being physically delivered to you.

Most companies will sell you a program spread over 1-3 years, and send out each piece as you pass each exam. Sounds reasonable? Well consider these facts:

Often, the staged breakdown pushed by the company’s salespeople doesn’t suit all of us. What if you find it hard to complete all the elements at the speed required?

The ideal solution is to have all your study materials delivered to you immediately; the complete package! Then, nothing can hinder the reaching of your goals.

Authorised exam simulation and preparation software is a must – and really must be supplied by your training company.

Some students can be thrown off course by practicing questions for their exams that aren’t recognised by official boards. Quite often, the terminology in the real exams is unfamiliar and you need to be ready for this.

Why don’t you test your depth of understanding by doing quizzes and practice exams prior to taking the actual exam.

Adding in the cost of exams upfront then including an exam guarantee is a common method with a number of training colleges. Consider the facts:

It’s very clear we’re still footing the bill for it – it’s quite obvious to see that it’s been added into the gross price invoiced by the college. Certainly, it’s not a freebie – don’t think these companies are so generous with their money!

Passing first time is everyone’s goal. Going for exams one at a time and paying as you go makes it far more likely you’ll pass first time – you prepare appropriately and are conscious of what you’ve spent.

Isn’t it outrageous to have to pay a college in advance for examinations? Find the best exam deal or offer at the time, don’t pay mark-ups – and sit exams more locally – rather than in some remote place.

Many so-called credible training companies make a great deal of profit by getting in the money for exam fees early then hoping you won’t see them all through.

Also, ‘Exam Guarantees’ often aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. Many training companies will not pay again for an exam until you have demonstrated conclusively that you won’t fail again.

Spending hundreds or even thousands extra on ‘Exam Guarantees’ is short-sighted – when hard work, commitment and the right preparation via exam simulations is what will really see you through.

by Jason Kendall

If you’re thinking about studying for the MCSE certificate, it’s probable that you fall into one of the following categories. You may want to enter the computer sector, as it’s apparent this commercial sector has a great need for men and women who are commercially qualified. Instead you may be someone with a certain amount of knowledge ready to formalise your skill set with the Microsoft qualification.

Be sure you confirm that the training company you use is actually training you on the most up-to-date Microsoft version. Many trainees are left in a mess when it turns out they have been studying for an outdated MCSE course which now needs updating.

The focus of a training company should primarily be on the best thing for their clients, and everyone involved should have a passion for their results. Working towards an MCSE isn’t just about the certification – it should initially look at assisting you in working on the most valid way forward for you.

When was the last time you considered your job security? For most of us, this only rears its head when something goes wrong. However, the painful truth is that true job security has gone the way of the dodo, for all but the most lucky of us.

However, a sector experiencing fast growth, where there just aren’t enough staff to go round (due to a big shortfall of commercially certified people), creates the conditions for real job security.

Taking the computing sector as an example, the last e-Skills analysis demonstrated a national skills shortage across the UK of around 26 percent. To explain it in a different way, this highlights that Great Britain can only find three qualified staff for every 4 jobs that are available at the moment.

This one reality in itself reveals why the United Kingdom requires a lot more trainees to get into the Information Technology market.

In reality, gaining new qualifications in IT throughout the coming years is most likely the best career move you’ll ever make.

If an advisor doesn’t dig around with lots of question – it’s more than likely they’re actually nothing more than a salesman. If they’re pushing towards a particular product before getting to know your background and experience, then you know you’re being sold to.

With a strong background, or maybe some live experience (possibly even some previous certification?) then obviously the level you’ll need to start at will be quite dissimilar from someone with no background whatsoever.

Starting with a foundation module first may be the ideal way to start into your IT programme, but really depends on your level of familiarity with computers.

There are a glut of job availability in Information Technology. Deciding which one could be right out of this complexity is a mammoth decision.

What is our likelihood of grasping the day-to-day realities of any IT job if we’ve never been there? Most likely we don’t even know anybody who is in that area at all.

Arriving at any kind of right answer can only grow via a careful examination of many changing areas:

* Your hobbies and interests – these can reveal the possibilities will give you the most reward.

* Do you hope to achieve an important objective – like being your own boss sometime soon?

* What are your thoughts on salary vs job satisfaction?

* When taking into account all that IT encompasses, it’s a requirement that you can take in what is different.

* You need to take in what is different for all the training areas.

For the average person, considering these areas requires a good chat with an advisor that has direct industry experience. And we’re not only talking about the accreditations – but also the commercial requirements besides.

OK, why should we consider commercial certification and not more traditional academic qualifications taught at schools, colleges or universities?

Corporate based study (in industry terminology) is more effective in the commercial field. Industry has acknowledged that specialisation is necessary to meet the requirements of an acceleratingly technical commercial environment. Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe are the key players in this arena.

In essence, students are simply taught the necessary specifics in depth. It isn’t quite as lean as that might sound, but the most important function is always to cover the precise skills needed (along with a certain amount of crucial background) – without attempting to cover a bit about all sorts of other things (as degree courses are known to do).

If an employer is aware what areas need to be serviced, then they simply need to advertise for a person with the appropriate exam numbers. The syllabuses are set to exacting standards and don’t change between schools (in the way that degree courses can).

Be alert that all accreditations that you’re considering will be commercially viable and are current. Training companies own certificates are generally useless.

Unless the accreditation comes from a big-hitter like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe, then it’s likely it could have been a waste of time and effort – because it won’t give an employer any directly-useable skills.

For those interested in joining a web design team, Adobe Dreamweaver is a fundamental criteria to achieve professional credentials that are globally recognised.

by Jason Kendall

For those interested in joining a web design team, Adobe Dreamweaver is a fundamental criteria to achieve professional credentials that are globally recognised.

We’d also suggest that students get an in-depth understanding of the entire Adobe Web Creative Suite, including Flash and Action Script, in order to facilitate Dreamweaver professionally as a web designer. This can take you on to becoming an ACP (Adobe Certified Professional) or an ACE (Adobe Certified Expert).

To develop into a professional web-designer however, you’ll have to get more diverse knowledge. You will need to learn certain programming skills like PHP, HTML, and MySQL. A good understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and E Commerce will also give you a distinct advantage in the marketplace.

Review the facts below very carefully if you’ve been persuaded that the marketing blurb about ‘guaranteeing’ exams sounds like a benefit to the student:

In this day and age, we tend to be a tad more knowledgeable about sales gimmicks – and the majority of us ought to grasp that it is something we’re paying for (it isn’t free or out of the goodness of their hearts!)

Qualifying on the first ‘go’ is what everyone wants to do. Going for exams one at a time and paying as you go puts you in a much stronger position to qualify at the first attempt – you put the effort in and are mindful of the investment you’ve made.

Find the best exam deal or offer available at the appropriate time, and avoid college mark-up fees. You also get more choice of where you take your exam – which means you can stay local.

Is there a good reason to pay interest on a bigger loan than is necessary because you’ve paid early for exams when you don’t need to? Huge profits are netted by organisations getting paid upfront for exams – and hoping either that you won’t take them, or it will be a long time before you do.

Don’t forget, with ‘Exam Guarantees’ from most places – the company controls how often and when you are allowed to have another go. You will have to demonstrate an excellent pass-rate before they’ll approve a re-take.

Prometric and VUE exams are around 112 pounds in the United Kingdom today. Why spend so much more on ‘Exam Guarantee’ fees (most often hidden in the package) – when a quality course, support and a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Be alert that all exams that you’re considering will be commercially viable and are bang up to date. ‘In-house’ exams and the certificates they come with are not normally useful in gaining employment.

All the major IT organisations such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe all have globally acknowledged proficiency programmes. These big-hitters will make sure you’re employable.

Have you recently questioned the security of your job? For most people, this isn’t an issue until something goes wrong. However, the painful truth is that true job security simply doesn’t exist anymore, for all but the most lucky of us.

Security only exists now in a swiftly escalating marketplace, driven by a shortage of trained workers. It’s this alone that creates the right conditions for a secure market – a more attractive situation all round.

Reviewing the computing sector, the 2006 e-Skills survey showed a twenty six percent shortage in trained professionals. Showing that for each 4 job positions that exist in the computer industry, there are only 3 trained people to do them.

Well skilled and commercially educated new workers are as a result at a resounding premium, and it looks like they will be for many years longer.

It’s unlikely if a better time or market settings will exist for getting trained into this swiftly increasing and evolving industry.

Your training program should always include the very latest Microsoft (or relevant organisation’s) authorised exam preparation and simulation materials.

Often students can get confused by trying to prepare themselves with questions that don’t come from authorised sources. Quite often, the phraseology can be quite different and it’s important to prepare yourself for this.

You should make sure you test your depth of understanding through quizzes and mock ups of exams before you take the actual exam.

Get rid of the typical salesperson that offers any particular course without an in-depth conversation so as to understand your abilities as well as experience level. Make sure they can draw from a expansive product range so they’re actually equipped to give you an appropriate solution.

Don’t forget, if you’ve had any relevant previous certification, then you may be able to commence studying further along than a student who’s starting from scratch.

Working through a basic PC skills program first may be the ideal way to commence your IT program, but depends on your skill level.

The CompTIA A+ training program covers four areas of training; you’re thought of as an A+ achiever once you’ve passed your exams for half of them. This is why it’s usual for colleges to offer only two of the training courses. In reality you will need the teaching in all areas as a lot of employment will be looking for an awareness of each specialist area. It’s not essential to pass exams in all of them, however we’d advise that you learn about all four.

Qualifying in CompTIA A+ on its own will give you the ability to repair and fix stand-alone PC’s and MAC’s; ones which are usually not part of a network – which is for the most part the home market.

Were you to add Network+ training to your A+, you’ll also have the ability to take care of networks, giving you the facility to command a higher salary.

We can all agree: There really is very little evidence of individual job security available anymore; there can only be market or business security – a company will let anyone go whenever it fits the business’ trade requirements.

It’s possible though to find security at market-level, by looking for areas in high demand, mixed with a lack of qualified workers.

Looking at the IT sector, a key e-Skills study showed a more than 26 percent skills deficit. Therefore, out of each 4 positions that are available throughout IT, businesses are only able to find certified professionals for three of them.

Fully skilled and commercially grounded new employees are thus at a resounding premium, and it looks like they will be for much longer.

It would be hard to imagine if a better time or market conditions is ever likely to exist for getting trained into this quickly emerging and evolving market.

Searching for your first position in IT can be a little easier with the help of a Job Placement Assistance facility. The need for this feature can be bigged up out of proportion though – it’s easy for their marketing department to make it sound harder than it is. Ultimately, the need for well trained IT people in Great Britain is why employers will be interested in you.

Work on polishing up your CV right away however (advice can be sought on this via your provider). Don’t wait till the exams have actually been passed.

Many junior support roles have been bagged by people who are still studying and haven’t got any qualifications yet. This will at least get you into the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s – rather than the ‘No’ pile.

The most efficient companies to help you land that job are most often independent and specialised local recruitment services. As they’re keen to place you to receive their commission, they have the necessary incentive to try that bit harder.

A big frustration for various training companies is how hard people are focused on studying to pass exams, but how un-prepared they are to work on getting the role they’ve trained for. Don’t give up when the best is yet to come.

Usually, trainers will provide piles of reference manuals and workbooks. Obviously, this isn’t much fun and not ideal for remembering.

Studies have consistently shown that becoming involved with our studies, to utilise all our senses, is much more conducive to long-term memory.

Locate a program where you’ll receive a selection of CD and DVD based materials – you’ll begin by watching videos of instructors demonstrating the skills, and then have the opportunity to use virtual lab’s to practice your new skills.

You’ll definitely want a demonstration of the study materials from the training company. The package should contain instructor videos, demonstrations, slide-shows and interactive labs where you get to practice.

Purely on-line training should be avoided. Always choose CD or DVD based study materials where possible, enabling them to be used at your convenience – it’s not wise to be held hostage to a quality and continuous internet connection.

There are colossal changes flooding technology over the next generation – and this means greater innovations all the time.

We’re only just starting to see just how technology is going to shape our lives. Computers and the web will massively change the way we see and interrelate with the world as a whole over the years to come.

A typical IT technician across the UK is likely to earn significantly more than his or her counterpart outside of IT. Typical remuneration packages are around the top of national league tables.

The requirement for properly certified IT professionals is assured for quite some time to come, due to the continuous expansion in the marketplace and the huge shortage that we still have.

‘Exam Guarantees’ are often bundled with training offers – this always means exams have to be paid for upfront, at the start of your training. Before you jump at a course with such a promise, why not look at the following:

Obviously it’s not free – you’re still being charged for it – the cost has just been rolled into the whole training package.

Qualifying on the first ‘go’ is what everyone wants to do. Entering examinations in order and paying as you go has a marked effect on pass-rates – you put the effort in and are conscious of what you’ve spent.

Go for the best offer you can find when you’re ready, and hang on to your cash. You’ll also be able to choose where to take your exam – which means you can stay local.

Many unscrupulous training colleges make big margins through charging for examinations upfront and hoping you won’t see them all through.

It’s worth noting, with the majority of Exam Guarantees – they control when and how often you can do your re-takes. You’ll have to prove conclusively that you can pass before they’ll pay for another exam.

Exam fees averaged approximately 112 pounds in the last 12 months when taken at UK VUE or Prometric centres. So why pay hundreds or thousands of pounds extra to get ‘Exam Guarantees’, when any student knows that the responsible approach is a regular, committed, study programme, with an accredited exam preparation system.
