What is the ideal job? For anybody asked that question, the reply will be different. The range will be vast but I imagine some trends will come out. Football or some form of sport will probably feature heavily (as long as it comes with Premier League salary). The number of regulations which apply to the employment sector is large and shows no signs of abating. There appears to have been a never-ending flow of new laws, guidelines and directives which cover wages, working conditions, discrimination and diversity, to list just a few. The Office for National Statistics compiles statistics which tell us the approximate number of people in work in the United Kingdom. While there are slight variations in the monthly totals the figure is generally around the 29million mark. Various surveys of working practices and human resource themes have estimated that the number of employees who Work From Home the whole time is around 3 per cent of the total workforce. The Flexible Working (Procedural Requirements) Regulations 2002 introduced details of the ways in which firms and staff can adjust their normal working practices to achieve various objectives. This is definitely not a one-sided piece of legislation as companies could glean as much benefit in business terms as the workers do in having increased leisure time or helping with their personal arrangements such as child care. For those who Work From Home, running their own Internet Business, they are in complete control of their work conditions. Many of the jobs they perform will be Online Jobs, so it is not necessary for others to know whether these folk are able-bodied or disabled, unless these people wish to reveal the fact. What a wonderful change that must be, to know that it is entirely up to them, as individuals, to determine who knows about their disability and who does not.
